Happy (late) New Year!
Last year seemed a bit crazy didn't it? I'm know I'm not the only one who felt it...just a bit "off" all year long. I'm looking forward to a fresh new start this year!
I couldn't let a year go by without a roundup of my favorite posts of the past year. Here are some of my favorite quilts/things/posts from 2017:
From Top left to Right: Jelly Strip Stash Buster Tutorial, Pokey Puppy Quilt, Bloom, Lavender Blue Triangles, One Way in Pink and Yellow, Diagonal Strips Tutorial, Playful 2, Floral Plus Quilt, Cascade and Hello Jane, One Way, Quilt Market, Hearts
While we renovated the downstairs I moved my very rustic ladder into the corner of my sewing room and hung my WIP quilt tops on it. Getting them out of the closet and into plain sight was motivation...it's like having my Mom give me "the dirty eye" from the corner of the room. No starting new projects until my unfinished quilts are done and off the ladder! I finished two of them this week...three more to go and I'll have no more WIP's for the first time in a few years!
I look forward to posting more in this space this year, trying to make myself get in front of the camera more, and being more personable on this blog and social media (not my strong suite!). Also making myself get away from the phone/computer, and drawing and sewing more again to fill my free time.
Wishing you all a great year ahead!

Happy New Year to you too! I need a quilt ladder like that to give me the "dirty eye" to finish my quilts to!! And I need to do the same as you: less time on the computer and more time sewing!! :-) Hugs, H

I'm the same! I'm trying to budget my time more wisely in order to reach all those goals I set each week! I never realized how much of a time suck social media was until I started limiting my time on it to do other things. And yay for WIP'S getting done! 😃

I have in my shed, not quite knowing how I would use it but hanging on to it for just the right inspiration, which you have given me here. I love the wreath made with old thread spools and could just cry since I gave a whole great big bunch away that came to me after my mama's and sister's passing - just too many to hang on to and probably dried out thread. Another inspiration from you - from here on I will now always save spools, full, half full and empty, to re-purpose them into a wreath like yours. Your work is simply beautiful and you are an inspiration. I totally agree about this past year having been exhaustingly crazy and look forward to a better 2018 for all of us. Thank you, wish blessings to you and all those you love and hold dear.

Oh man isn't that spool wreath fun! My friend made it for me, she bought those little spools and wrapped pieces of my fabric around them. I love it so much! And yay for already having an old ladder!
Annie
Addendum - actually a correction: "I have in my shed" should read that I have an old ladder in my shed.

Your year in review is quite impressive - alot of accomplishments to be proud of on top of looking after your growing tribe ! Thanks for everything you do here for us, your adoring followers too, Happy New Year !!

Allison, you are an inspiration. I adore everything about you. I am so glad I found you. I have learned so much from you.
Last year you really shared so many creative and sweet projects. I want to make them all
I wish you all of the best and happiest days
I have a lot of goals with my sewing endeavors and also with family. I am taking care of my daddy and also enjoying time with my retired hubbs, and both of my daughters live close by and they each have a wonderful hubbs and a baby daughter!! Life is very good.
I managed to procure a charm pack of Hello Jane and now I am looking for an idea to make a quilt for my 4 month old Lena
Happy New Year, dear good friend

Allison, I enjoy your blog so much. You always have something practical that I can use. I love your quilts too. They're beautiful and not overly complicated. Your little Jane is growing up so fast! Keep up the good work and Happy New Year!

I would love to trade WIP & SWIP piles with you! When I retired last July I made an excel spread sheet with all my WIP's on it. Two columns, one with what's left to do on the quilt, and one that is numbered in the order I want to finish them. So far there are 27 on that list with another 19 to be added into the sequence. The brain was wore out after the first 27. There are some to be worked as leader/ender projects and then there's the three charm square quilts which will be ongoing and forever.
I guess I've got my work cut out for the next couple of years.
Allison
Oh my word that's a lot of WIPs! I get overwhelmed just with a few...I am a one project at a time kind of person, my brain can't handle anything else! I love having a long term project going though...even if they take forever and ever. ;)

I love the quilt ladder. My husband made me one, painted it white (because he knows I love white against my gray walls), he gave it to me for Christmas. He also had an old Singer metal sewing table made into a new table with an solid wood top for my serger to sit on! I enjoy reading your blog so much and THANK YOU for all the FREE designs and patterns you share with us. I just printed the No Point Stars. I plan to keep a journal of all the projects I work on this year, I will be keeping tabs monthly. I hope I can get some things sewn!!!!
Allison
Thank you for visiting and what a nice husband you have to make you a ladder and table! Happy sewing!!
