That I should NOT be quilting when tired:
I sewed myself right to the quilt. My husband had to come unpick me (after taking a photo…a true bloggers husband) because I couldn’t unpick myself with my left hand.
P.S. Now don’t you go being all jealous of my sexy quilting gloves…they are my favorite.
Hahahahaha! That is classic!
Connie
Bwahaha! I did exactly the same thing last week but no husb to rescue me … I thought I was going to have to gnaw through my arm to escape.
Oh.. oh that's not funny at all *snicker* I've done that same thing before. If it makes you feel better, I once accidentally locked my infant daughter in the car while wearing a t-shirt that said "Real Geinus" on it. :)
I super-glued my hand to the kitchen counter once. Exactly the same thing….only different.
Those gloves are HOT!
:-}pokey
Coffee just came shooting out my nose! Sorry to be laughing at your expense, but that is just too darned funny! Can't say as I've ever sewed myself to my machine, but I've done plenty of OTHER things just as silly :-) Thank goodness hubby was around at the right time!
Too funny. Thanks for retaining your sense of humour an posting the photo.
That. Is. Awesome. And I can laugh because I've also done it before!
Very sexy gloves. Sorry you sewed yourself to your quilt, but glad you posted the pic. That is just too funny.
I did that a few weeks ago! Then yesterday I quilted the (folded) top of the quilt into the other stitching and had to rip it out.
I agree, don't attempt when tired!
I have to say that is the first time that I have seen someone sew themselves into a quilt! I have actually pinned myself to one, but never sewed. Looking forward to meeting you in a few day!!
Oh, I have done that so many times! LOL! Good blogger's husband!
Your quilt is SO CUTE!
Awesome- so true- I sewed my finger to a quilt yesterday too :) And I LOVE those gloves- every pair I try don't work! What brand are they???
LOL!
I'm worried now, no husband to come to the rescue…wonder if I should teach my 5 yr old how to use the seam ripper hmmm… maybe not ;-)
It must have been like '27 hours' the movie for a moment there!
Glad you did not hurt yourself! Once, i did ses through m'y finger, so i was a bit worried when i saw the title, but when i saw the picture, i had to laugh…
That's' hilarious! At least it was just your sleeve and not your arm!
better your sleeve and not your finger! Great photography by hubby BTW.
(Chuckle!) How far did you stitch before you realised? I'm impressed your hubby knows how to use a seam ripper – how much did he laugh when he saw you?! Although I've never stitched myself to a quilt I've made enough mistakes to know that I should never cut or do fabric maths when I'm tired!
that's way too funny!
hahahaha ~ thanks so much for the laugh!
when I was a little girl of 5 my Mom showed me how to sew with a needle and thread. I made clothes for my dolls and remember sewing what I was sewing onto my dress or whatever I may be wearing! it would make me cry.
glad it was only your sleeve ~
So sorry but that is cute and funny!
Hugs
Julie
Oh no, better your sleeve than skin! My mom did that years ago.
That's hilarious! One of the few quilting errors I HAVEN'T made yet :)
You are funny! Thanks for the laugh!!
LOVE IT!!
You really get into your work! ;^)
Haha! Good job your husband was there to rescue you!
Great! I made the same thing: I sewed my right glove! I had to cut the glove! Welcome in "The Sewn Gloves Club"!
Oh this is so funny! I'm glad for your sake that it was just your clothing and not your hand or your arm…like I had happen to me back in 1992 when I stayed up until the wee hours of the morning finishing my sons spider costume for his kindergarten Halloween parade. At 2am, with a loud crunch! the sewing macine stopped and wouldnt budge. It took me at least two minutes to figure out why and also why I couldn't move my hand….the needle had gone completely through bone and I had to unscrew the needle with my free hand, then wake up my poor husband to cut the barb off the needle and then pull it out of my middle finger bone with plyers.
The tetnus shot did hurt way more than the accident though!
Too funny! Thanks for sharing. Haven't done that, but have logged so many other mishaps I now try to stay out of the sewing room during "the error hour" (which is often far longer than an hour, mostly occurs during late afternoon, but is ANY time I am tired and inattentive).
awesome!! something i've yet to manage, but give me time! lol
I am cracking up! By the way, I love your sewing gloves, I bet they are way cheaper than the kind you get from the quilting store too! Looks like it will be another beautiful quilt!
Yikes, Merrie's comment just made me cringe. I'm sorry about your sewing escapade. But I sure like the fabric that I see there!
Me great grace what has happened. :)
It was very funny, thanks for sharing.
Greetings from Granada, Spain, from espiralcaracola.blogspot.com
PS. I also use gardening gloves for quilting.
I stitched through my finger when I was quilting my last one.
Too funny! Sure glad it was just your sleeve. You do have cute Atlas gloves for quilting. My husband loves his Atlas gloves. I love my red Fons and Porter quilting gloves, too, and feel empowered when I have them on.
Mrs. Hearts
Better your shirt than your finger!
i love pictures of real life moments!!! good thing he was there to remove you from your quilt!
Hahahaha! Sounds like something I would do!
Bravo to your husband for be so helpful! It would of taken my husband an hour to unpick me if I did that. The first 45 minutes would be spent laughing at me followed by 15 minutes figuring out how to unpick me.
It is only a matter of time before this happens to all of us. Luckily your husband was home or you would have had to haul your sewing machine everywhere you went! Thanks for the funny post!
That is just hilarious and I have the twin gloves to yours. I don't feel quite silly now!
I laughed out load… soooo glad there was a pic….
Ha Ha thats funny, have a great mothers day
Too funny! I haven't sewed myself to my quilt, but I've done plenty of other goofy things while quilting. Glad you're OK and hubby was able to rescue you :)
That is too funny!! And I laugh with you, not at you, b/c I do klutzy stuff like that all the time. Hope you were able to catch up on your sleep! Happy Mother's Day!
LOL, that is a true blogger's hubby for sure. Glad it wasn't flesh sewn to the quilt. Blood is hard to remover from fabric….
HUGGLES
Lucky.
P.S. So love your quilting gloves, mine are green ones from the supermarket.
Funny!! I haven't done that one yet – well, probably because I don't have the gloves, or I'm sure I would!
Thanks for the good laugh. :)
LOL. Thanks for sharing. And yes, I've done this, but luckily, it was my left sleeve so I could unpick myself. And I was too embarrassed to tell anyone about it until just now. Thanks for helping us all not feel so bad about the crazy things we've done.
Oh dear!
LOL, you poor child! :) How do you like your quilting foot? I have a 430 and I am indecisive about the purchase. I would love your thoughts on it!
That is hilarious! I've sewed my finger, but never my shirt. Classic!
:o) very awesome! and you obviously have a great husband too!
Thank you so much for sharing the "oops" moments. I had one yesterday. I was trying to get a bunch of pieced fabric plus a border to equal a certain length for pillow shams, and I started thinking how proud I was for remembering to subtract the 1/4 inch from each side of the pieced part. Only after cutting the borders, sewing them on, and then coming up 1/2 inch short did I remember that I also should have subtracted 1/4 inch from each side of the BORDER fabric too. Ugh. Glad to know I'm not the only one who does dumb things in the name of quilting.
I would have left the block where it was and said I did it on purpose! ;0
Oh no! How long did your husband laugh at you? Too funny but only because you didn't stitch your arm down too. I'm glad it was only the shirt.
Oh my grief! I clicked on this saying to myself "Please tell me she didn't sew her finger / hand!"
My husband wouldn't have been able to take a picture or unpick me because he'd be laughing too hard to hold still.
too funny :-) And yes, I think I'd be just like Audrie's husband…in fact it took me a while to type this cause I kept laughing – I can totally see myself doing this exact thing :-)
Snicker, snort…I've done the same thing while doing hand embroidery–only I attached my skirt to the back of my project ;-D
We've all had moments like that! I've accidentally stitched things to my skirt when hand sewing or basting not once but a *few* times!
If you're able to reply, I'd love to know which collection that great fabric with the green octagons is?
Hey, I'm having a giveaway to a quilt shop if you wanna pop by :)
Happy mother's day!

Hehe…I use bright yellow dishwashing gloves, and I love them…but I never let anyone see me quilting! I like yours though – they look like they'd have better circulation.
That's almost as bad as when I was cutting fabric and took off part of my sleeve with the rotary cutter. Sigh…at least this was reversible lol!
Loved the last two posts. Just too funny. Have a Happy Mother's Day!
:)))) That's hilarious… and cute. Thanks for sharing :)
Hahaha! I've done that … also sewn through the tip of the gloves, just missing my finger or thumb … be careful! ;-)
LOL makes me feel a bit less dumb – last week when tired I sheared off the tip of my finger with the rotary cutter. Sigh. Dumb.
LOL That's Funny! Good thing someone was in the house!!
SO jealous man!! Those babies will be in my dreams tonight!!! LOL LOVE IT!!! Happy Mothers day!
YIKES. Close call. I have sewn through my finger twice. Still don't know how it happened!!! I always though people who have done something like that must not have all thier marbles. Now I know how fast it can happen.
That is too funny! I would have left the shirt in the machine and gone to bed! :)
No quilting past 11pm!! Or life decisions!!
Funny! My husband would have done the same, insisting I get a picture for the blog!
Oh that is too funny. I am so glad it wasn't your finger or something. I've heard stories…you had me scared there for a minute. :)
That is just plain funny right there I don't care who you are :)
hahahaha. this is really funny!;)

Love it! LOL I did that once hand quilting. My DH was in the hospital and I was hand quilting a small project and he asked me to get him some ice chips, and I went to stand up and my project was sewn on to my pants. Yes, I walked to the room to get ice with it still attached to my leg. ;-)
I'm happy to see that you too make mistakes. I thought it was only me! Thanks for sharing
That's hilarious! And that's so what my boyfriend would do.
Wow, 81 comments! Either people love a good laugh (thank you – I needed it!) or they love knowing that someone who makes gorgeous things (and has a clean house with little kids!) can also be totally human! Very refreshing. I just pulled an all nighter last weekend making my daughter's first communion dress, and finished the sash seconds before leaving for church. It's a real tight ship around here. (Not.)
