Things have been slow here. When real life gets a little crazy the blog is the first to get put on the back burner. I was really sick with a pregnancy...and then really sick with the loss of that pregnancy...so about the last thing on earth I've wanted to do was sit and write a silly blog post about fabric/sewing/quilting! Luckily I'm feeling a bit back to normal and anxious to start on some fun projects I've had on hold and start sharing in this space more. :)
I've been staring at this bundle of Carolyn Friedlander's latest collection Doe for Robert Kaufman. That black and white triangle print has my heart. I hate unwrapping these pretty bundles!
A few more Metro Living bundles from Robert Kaufman. I've already opened that top one...the colors make an awesome boy quilt.
Bloomerie Fabrics is hosting a QAL making Wallflowers (more info here, and it's on sale in my shop here). I've had another Wallflowers on my list of to-makes for over a year now...so this was just the push I needed. This time I'm making it without sashing I think? We'll see. :)
Aimee

I'm so sorry. I am glad to hear you are able to find joy in crafting again. Prayers for continued healing from your sorrow. As for Wallflowers, eliminating sashing sounds like living on the edge to me, but I have faith in you. I look forward to seeing the result.

How brave of you to share your loss with all of us, Allison. I went through 2 miscarriages myself, so my heart aches for you. Babies are such a blessing, and losing one makes it seem as though life is not quite right for a time. You are in my prayers. Know that your quilting is an inspiration to all who read your blog. AND, know that life is truly good. I have three wonderful grown-up children and will become a first time Grandmother in April! Blessings to you and your family.

Such a difficult time for you. It is so hard to resume a 'normal' life after such a painful and life changing event. After my son passed away ( he was 33) I decided to keep my blog going because he really would have expected me to do that. I slogged along for some time and then it became a natural part of my day again. Quilting again, returning to my routines and many supporting friends helped me along. It will soon be three years and that part of my life remains difficult but sewing has made it manageable. I hope it does the same for you. Nothing will ever replace the lost one, but finding your way back will be a way to honor that child. God Bless.

I am sorry for your loss. Please remember you are important and taking time to grieve is an essential part of moving forward. You are so brave to share the pain you are feeling, but know many people are out in the land of blogs that hold you in their thoughts and prayers.
Katie @SwimBikeQuilt
I was thinking about you the other day, wondering if everything was okay. Sick pregnancies are the worst, followed only In the bad category by sick pregnancies followed by loss. I've been through both, and hope you feel love and a bit of peace from those near and far.

I'm so sorry. I went through this in July and it is just awful. I do think that it is helpful to let other people know what you are going through, especially since so many other people have this experience. My kids had a difficult a really difficult time with the news since I was already 12 weeks along when I miscarried and we had told them. I hope you get lots of time to rest and heal!

the girlfriend gap
Just a note of sympathy to you and your family.... I understand. I have been on this side of grief. I know it is not something everyone does after a miscarriage but we gave the baby that we lost a name. We didn't know is the baby was a boy or a girl but in a house full of girls everyone wanted another girl so we gave her a girls name. Someday we will see her again. Love runs deep- I think about her often even though we said good bye 17 years ago. I'm looking forward to that day of reunion in heaven. I don't know how far along in the pregnancy you were but love begins at the beginning. I know it is hard. One reader recommended reading Heaven is for Real.... I second that. Take care. Janita

So very sorry for your loss. Nothing will bring the pregnancy or the baby back, of course, so all you can do is grieve and move on. I have found in my life that quilting is very soothing and helps keep me centered. When, on one or two occasions, I've gone through a really difficult time, it has helped me to take time to just quilt for a day or two. "Bury" myself in a project and some fabric I really liked and just be as creative and/or productive as I felt like. The process of being with the fabric without any specific expectations or goals, just for therapeutic purposes, was incredibly healing.
That was me, you should do whatever you find soothing and healing for you. And insist that those around you understand that you have suffered a significant loss.
Darlene Barnes Rosner
My heartfelt condolences for your loss. I have experienced this loss, and it does leave a big hole in your heart. Your family is lovely and you are very blessed; I will continue to be one of your biggest Canadian fans!

Please accept my heartfelt sympathy. Although it was over 30 years ago, the pain surfaces at times. Last year, we had a rock engraved for the garden, and that gesture brought a lot of closure. Thank you for your openness. No one wanted to listen when it happened to us.
