This quilt turned out so calm and breezy looking even though it was packed with different fabrics.
This is what became of all the HST’s I showed you a few weeks ago.
I used this method to make the pinwheels (scroll to the bottom of the post). I started with 6 ½” squares…and ended up with 7 ½” pinwheels after trimming. Once you finish the pinwheels all you need is 2 ½” x 7 ½” strips and 2 ½” squares to make up this simple quilt.
It’s full of fabrics from my stash and scrap bin…I had a lot more neutrals than I thought once I started sorting. That big black and white Kaffe Fassett polka dot is my favorite.
It measures about 47” x 56”. A pod of Orcas swam by to inspect my work while we were at this beach…and then my 4 year old dumped a beach bucket full of sand in my van. :)
Never a dull moment here! Happy quilting!

Absolutely beautiful-the colors are fantastic. I'm working on a second quilt from your book now-I made the rainbow square quilt and am now making a twin size of Sweets. Your patterns are well explained and easy to follow-perhaps another book will be in your future??

It was so appropriate to photograph this quilt at the beach. It has that calm blue sky, ocean, sandy beach look about it. Love your color combinations.

It looks easy and breezy! Love the colors.

Love that! All the blues and greens remind me of beach glass.
And your neutrals are kind of like mine. Anymore mine have things in the background like musical notes, apple seeds, bugs and eyeballs. I have gotten away from the tone-on-tone look for neutrals for the most part.

So pretty: I love the colors that you used. And a pod of orcas: how lucky are you to have seen them!!! Hope the sand comes out too!! Hugs, H in Healdsburg

I love that the far away view is so light and airy looking but that there is so much detail when you see the quilt up close - that a perfect balancing act.
Also I'm so jealous of seeing a pod of Orcas - just wow!

Oh, man, that quilt and the beach backdrop are making me long for summer days - sandy kids feet all over the car and everything!

Love your colors in your quilt. Looks great. We frequent the beach and my 4 year old also likes to take back as much as she can of the beach that usually ends up all over the car and in the tracks of the back seats.

Oh gorgeous!!! This is such a simple yet striking quilt. Just like everything you make it has such a fresh style. I made a pinwheel quilt once but one pinwheel was going the opposite direction and I didn't notice till quilting it. Oh well! I'm sure there will be another one someday and hopefully I'll get them all going the right way:)
