I don’t know why it took me so long to work with ombre fabrics…but now I’m hooked!
This Trellis pattern is made with jelly roll strips, layer cake squares, or even fat quarters. It would be equally beautiful in any fabrics, and maybe even more beautiful with a dark background…I’m obviously making this one again with some other options! I used a jelly roll of the ombre confetti fabrics by V and Co for Moda (I bought mine here on etsy…they are getting hard to find), mixed with a jr. jelly roll of the new confetti colors. You could get this same effect with a fat quarter bundle as well. Jelly Rolls and bundles of ALL the colors will be available this summer I’ve heard.
The pattern includes some tips for making the ombre effect in the layout, but you don’t even need ombre fabrics to achieve it. You could also use solids, or… wouldn’t the Tula Pink basics be amazing in this?!
Nesting seams make this one easy to put together and is the trick for getting the nice points. The seams of the points nest and lock together making the points perfect without much effort. Because you know I love nesting seams!
Kathy quilted this one for me, and I backed it with a big floral from my Hazel fabric.
The Trellis pattern can be found here as a PDF, or here as a paper copy I mail to you.
It’s going to be 83 degrees here this weekend and we are READY!
Have a wonderful Mother’s Day weekend!
This is wonderful! I’m so excited to make it, I’ve got a crush on the ombre fabric too!
Thanks Kathy!
Congrats! on your newest pattern release. It’s a beauty. Thanks for offering it at a discount for early birds!!
Thank you!
Just wondering how you would rate this pattern as far as difficulty?
It’s probably best for someone who has done a few quilts, and some diagonal seams before. It’s not hard, but there are diagonal seams you have to be (semi) precise with! I would say that with instruction or help a beginner could master it, at least the crib size. :)
Beautiful!
Thanks Deb!
ah,that’s stunning =)
don’t know if i care for ombre… as much as for that glitter!
(no, don’t tempt me, I’m getting back on earth)
Thanks Lily!!
I would like a tutorial 0n the trellis
Do you by chance have (or have a plan for) a coloring page to pre-plan the color layout??
I don’t! But if you email me I can email you one! cluckclucksew at gmail dot com
Love this pattern using the Ombré. Bought the pattern and the jelly roll the minute I saw this. Which white did you use for your background? Love all your patterns!!
Thanks! I used Bella Solids 200 – Off White (it’s really white…not cream at all). It’s the PERFECT white!
What is the number of the Bella solid you used
I love the way you can take a fairly simple quilt design and put a spin on it! They always look so much more difficult than they really are. I’ve made several of your quilts and you make me look like a genius! Enjoy your summer, even with 8 kids, I always looked forward to having them home for the summer!
