I’m guilty. Of being maybe the only person in my uber tree hugging town who doesn’t take reusable bags to the grocery store. I know I should, but I like having the plastic grocery bags around the house, what else would I put dirty diapers in? Anyways…. I’m going to try taking my own bag now, partly because I love the earth and all that good stuff, but mostly because I’m afraid my car will be egged by the “green” people as I leave the grocery store with 50 plastic earth killers stuffed in my trunk. And since I’m going to take my own bag now it has to be a cute one. Luckily I’ve seen this pattern around blogland I figured its just the bag to cure my plastic bag love affair. The pattern is by Alicia Paulson and I can’t recommend it enough. The directions and pictures were great, and my favorite part is it didn’t use any pieces larger than ½ yards, so I had the fabric on hand. I will definitely be making these for Christmas presents. The outside of the bag fabric is by MoMo for Moda, the center strip/pocket is Amy Butler-Lotus, the lining is Freshcut by Heather Bailey, and the strap is Amy Butler- Midwest Modern. I think. Happy shopping!

Love the bag! I'm with you - I'll probably be the last person I know that finally jumps on the reuseable wagon. But I really do reuse my plastic bags!
Will have to check out the tutorial!
Love the bag! How awesome to have a MoMo shopping bag! I just use the blue walmart ones that are 50cents a pop....I have like 30... : ) These would be wayyyy cuter.
a little bit biased
Very stylish and green. Thanks for inspiring!
Love your post! :) I too, am still using plastic. Not that I haven't tried switching. I have a car full of reusable bags, I just always seem to forget them.

Funny post! And very cute bag. I have a forest green bag I ordered from Nancy's Notions that wears like iron . . . but not nearly as classy as yours. I use it to haul groceries, library books, changes of clothing, food for potlucks, you name it.
I love my reusable bags for their usefulness, not their appearance. They can actually fit 3-4 plastic bags worth of stuff inside one, which means less trips into the house. Yours is much cuter, though! I have a diaper user in the house too so my solution has been to compromise. I leave the reusable bags home every 4th trip to the store or so and try to use them for all other shopping beyond groceries.
Hi Allison! If I had reusable bags as cute as this one, I bet I would remember to take them to the store with me! I like the pocket too. (We use empty bread bags at Gma's house for those stinky diapers, too.)
How FUNNY!! I just got home from Kroger, where I felt extremely guilty for not making up this bag yet - it has been on my radar for weeks! But, like you, what would I put my dirty diapers in?! Oh, the dilemma! I love your fabric choices! :)
Pink Little Ladies
Thats a really cute bag. Its hard enough to get me and my two girls to the store... let alone a reusable bag..maybe one day. Really cute though

I am in transition to reusable bags - I have plenty, but often can't remember to take them out of the car. NExt thing I know, I'm at the register with a line of people behind me, so can't duck out and retrieve them. I keep trying - hope the habit kicks in soon! Yours is adorable!
yes...those plastic bags get USED not thrown out at my house! I do love your bag though. Wish I could remember to take my GREEN bags into the store with me...:)
This is super cute! I'm one of those guilty people who uses plastic bags too. I know...so horrible! I need to get some cute bags too! I use the plastic ones to throw out our scraps from food when cooking, or use them as trash bags in the bathroom trash can! My hubby tells me it's recycling if we are using them! :)
Love the bag and fabrics!
If you shop at Aldi's like we do then having your own bags is a must. Unless you are my husband and just load everything into the vehicle as and then we all help him when he gets home. :-)
Save the planet or peer pressure, I guess either is a good reason to carry that fab bag. Too Cute.
Very cute! I have some fabric bags, but I forget to take them every time. I really need to change that! :)
i love this...i am going to go check out that pattern right now
Cutest reusable bag ever! You know, if you cloth diaper and use a reusable wet bag, you won't need plastic bags at all. Can you tell I live in Tree Hugging Central too? I love your story of why you feel the need for a reusable bag!
Wow! You are going to be one classy shopper with that lovely bag! You won't have to worry about being egged. You'll have to out run the other women who either want the pattern or are considering how to swipe the original! LOL
Too cute, Al...I better be getting one (or 5!) of those for Christmas! :P
I think your next project should be to figure out something cute to do with the 15 flannel receiving blankets I got at my baby shower. I've used like 3 of them 2 times each and I don't want to just throw them out or give them away! Ready.....GO! :)
You are so right about the uber tree huggers here in Washington. I also like plastic bags because my grands school recycles them for cash for the school!
This is super cute. How could you not want to go shopping just to try it out?? I made my first several months ago and need to re-stitch some of the seams. I didn't do so well for the first time around. I do love it though. It just carries the bread and potato chips now. :)
That's a great bag, Allison, good job!
I want to carry more reusable bags, but I can never remember to keep them with me when I go shopping. Thanks for sharing such great information.
