Yes….this is my second quilt top in these colors in two weeks, but I really love these colors together!!! This top is from a pattern/quilt I made for the Robert Kaufman booth at market. My husband named it Off Track.
Only after basting half of it did I finally notice that it really is off track… See?
How in the heck did I miss that???!!!! Luckily the “oops” block was in the bottom row so it was an easy unpick…but still worth a grumble and rolling of the eyes by yours truly.
ha! I would have left it…kind of like the mistake chose to be there because of the name!
You could have left it as a "Humility block", especially as it is't in the middle.
I'm with Dianne on that one – clever thought! Also, I never would have noticed had you not pointed it out! I love those colors, too!!! Gorgeous!
They say all quilts made with love have a mistake! It's very cute and I like the pattern a lot!
Those colours are fab together. Very pretty.
Wow, so now we know you are not perfect! I feel so much better. Just kidding, I would have changed it too, it would have bugged me. It is a beautiful quilt, I love the pattern too, it really shows off the fabrics.
That is the sort of thing I do ALL the time. Nice to know I am not the only one. :-)
if the arrows werent there i dont think that i would've picked it,lol.Looks great though, well done
I think it makes the quilt unique and one of a kind! I think it's beautiful.
I think the color combo is great, I would never be brave enough to put all those colors together. Will you be sharing this pattern?
I wouldn't know what to do if I didn't make errors like that all the time! Your quilt is lovely!
I love how it looks like your little boy is laughing at your mistake! I pretty much get off track in everything I sew…
you really have a knack for color combining! love what you pulled together here.
At least it was only half basted and not half quilted :)
I always love your color combos!
Gorgeous! I've never sewn anything "On track".
:D
I would have just names it "Which of These Blocks is Not Like the Other? and called it a Puzzle Quilt!
I probably never would have noticed it….but I am pretty tired :) I can't wait to meet you at market!
You should leave it – it is like Diana's famous sheep sweater….
But I actually like 'oops' blocks – I think they add a bit or character and originality to a quilt…though I may be in the minority on this one!
That always happens to me. No matter how much planning I do. I still think it looks great.
don't you hate mishaps like that! last night I sewed 8 or more stack n'whack blocks (the last piece as I was chain piecing) with no thread in the bobbin. DUH!
Youre supposed to just say, "I meant to do that!" :) Cute quilt! You are very talented!
Ooops! We all know exactly how you feel! Frustrating!
Darling quilts though, thanks for sharing them with us!
I would have left it. I like an oops in a quilt, and believe me I have plenty of them. But, I love the pattern. Great colors, too.
You could have left it in and called it a 'post' modern quilt…love it!
I love your quilt, even with what you show with the arrows is very good.
Warm greetings from Chile.
Too funny!! I love this quilt anyway…and it is called Off Track!! haha The camera never lies!!
P
Ha! Your baby thought it was funny! Little Stinker!
beautiful! what i love the most about denyse schmidt's collections is how they work together as a whole… individually i don't always see how the fabrics are going to work together to be magic, but they always are! and your additional selections just add to that magic.
I am surprised it doesn't seem anyone has asked yet or maybe I missed it but… Where can I get the pattern ?
It gives it character :)
You could just call it your Amish Mistake! I didn't even notice-funny. I really like that patten though. Any chance it will be available soon?
At least you notice it before you put the borders on.
I had one hanging in a show before I saw the oops. I didn't win a prize. lol. Beautiful quilt.
Ugh, so frustrating! The cutie in the picture doesn't seem to mind at all though!
Love it! Mistakes always "add interest"! ;)
Beautiful quilt. It would have bugged me too. Luckily it was not too hard to change.
it looks like three suckers all in a row! super cute! i am cutting mine today kaleidoscope here i come!
Oh no! At least it was an easy fix!
LOL — I would have left it and called it a "design decision." Either way — it's a great quilt :D
fun pattern, fun fabrics!
At least you found it before you quilted it!
Lovely quilt and you make me so happy to know I am not the only one that makes mistakes and shows them on their blog.
AHhh look at that cuty! Does he like to hide in the quilts like mine?
That is stunning! Will you be selling the pattern soon? This would be perfect for my next quilt! Great job!
I like the color combo too! And look at the mistake this way: like it's a game. See if anyone notices…and if they do, say that it was on purpose ;)
Very cute- and I echo others' comments about the colors. I like it a lot. And what's up with those blocks that just don't end up in the right place??? HAHA! I just hate it when you get something all "completed" only to find out something moved when you weren't looking. ;)
dlo you have a patten for this one? Simply gorgeous!!
I saw the free pattern here.

Love that quilt and the colours. Can't wait to check it out for reals next week!!!
Darling quilt…..love the colors….and that little guy is a keeper too!
I love this quilt! I would not have noticed either had you not put big black arrows there. I love these different colors and see many that I have. I wondered about this pattern but now I will buy it. See what a great quilter and inspiration you are!
I thought you had this pattern for sale but I don't see it. Would you make one up for us, Please? I sure would buy one from you. Thank you.
Cpmpletely understand why you used the same colours for two quilts. They are gorgeous colours together. Great pattern too.
Too cute! Looks like you had a fun time taking pictures too!
Alison, I know by the time you read this, it will have been unpicked and fixed. I thought I'd share that in some sewing circles, my families included, purposeful mistakes are made in all our quilts. I reminds us that only God can make something perfect. It's an old tradition that I enjoy using today. It reminds me who is really in control.
It's a lovely quilt!
Hugs & stitches,
Jennifer
Allison you crack me up! Love the quilt though, with it's "personalized" tracks ;-)
I love it! I need to find this pattern!
