    Jan 24, 2013

Can you tell I live in the woods?   Tall trees + a foggy dark week = bad pictures!

I started this little baby quilt after seeing this super cute quilt.   It is the Scout pattern…minus the solid strips in between.  I made the Crib size version, minus 1 block on each column.  I think it ended up being about 36" x 42" ??  Give or take a few inches.  ;)

The back is one of my favorite fabrics at the moment…the color is a perfect teal.

The Quilter’s Dream booth was across the isle from me at quilt market and left me with some samples.  This batting is fabulous.  I’m anxious to try the polyester version…I’ve heard great things about it.

    IMG_7458_thumb[4]

It crinkled a lot in the wash.   It’s soft and thin enough to use as a wrap-around blanket to give a new baby.

Fabrics are Les Amis by Patty Sloniger for Michael Miller Fabrics bought here.  I also added some solids… Bella Snow, Pistachio, and Breeze.

I love the colors for this quilt! I need to check out that quilters dream batting- your quilt did crinkle up quite a bit. It looks so soft and cozy.

My favorite batting (line). I adore their Dream Angel and Dream Wool. The poly cotton is quite lovely, but doesn't crinkle as much. Love the colors on your new quilt.

Just crazy about this quilt! I am craving my sewing machine so much right now! Away for work, so don't have my machine with me. It's torture to see your beautiful quilt and not be able to do one of my own! But thanks for sharing yours :)

      Darling Quilt!
I love QD batting! The poly batting is really inexpensive and the nicest poly I've ever seen. It feels good enough to curl up in by itself. It needles like a dream, whether you stitch by hand or with the machine.

Photos are fine! There's even sun shining on the folded quilt! It's very cute and I love a thin cotton batting. I find them much easier to quilt myself, much less likely to cause the backing to pucker, and they don't lack any warmth in comparison to wool either.

Love, love, love this quilt! That's why I immediately purchased a stack of those fabrics... ehem... I like the design and will probably make something around it. The quilt would fit perfectly into my son's room (my son is 8 1/2 months).

Dido that, Love this quilt. I completely missed the Jan 24 support your local quilt shop day, boo hoo for me. I'll make it up to them for sure, as I am a fabric-a-holic. Wow you have several around you to purchase great stuff. I'll be in Seattle next week and will check some of them out.
      Thanks Debbie.

PS: you do awesome work, keep it up girl.

This is so pretty -- I love your Scout pattern both ways. It's neat to see the same pattern made up in different fabrics by different quilters.

I've used Quilter's Dream cotton batting in the past, and I love that bumpy, puckered texture you get after it's washed. That will be one stylish, lucky baby getting wrapped in this quilt!
