    Finished Briar Rose

    Aug 28, 2013

Briar Rose, Cluck Cluck Sew_thumb Briar Rose Quilt_thumb[1] Briar Rose Quilt Backing_thumb[1]

    Trimming, Briar Rose Quilt_thumb

I finished this quilt just in time for the cut flowers to be in full bloom.  I like this top even more now that’s completed…all of the colors look a better together and not so busy after a little break from it.
I backed this one with a double sided minky fabric without any batting.  I have more info on how I do that at this post.
For some reason this one gave me trouble while I was quilting.  The minky had extra static, and I felt like I was pulling and pushing it through my machine…and then I was annoyed… so I just pushed and pulled harder and made a lot of mistakes a long the way.  ;)
Looking back it probably would have been 100x easier to quilt this one upside-down!  Luckily the result was worth it and it is so so so so so so so so soft.

I wonder if one of those anti-static sprays would have helped? It looks great anyway!

The quilt is beautiful and looks soo soft. Thanks for the tips for working with minky. I am currently working on my first minky baby quilt, using flannel to make it a bit heavier. Scary!

The quilt is lovely. I've not used minky as a backing, so good to know. Briar Rose is on my "to get" list. I'm envious of your zinnias!

This is the best use of Briar Rose that I have seen so far (in my opinion anyway). The pattern is perfect for the fabrics. :-) Very lovely!

I love your blocks. How did you do them? With a kind of wonky stack 'n whack approach? I'd love to give this a try some day.

I'm almost finished with a Briar Rose top and have sort of fallen out of love with it. It's sad because I waited so impatiently for the fabric to come out. This inspires me to finish it up and then decide how I feel!

I'm not a fan of Briar Rose (too busy for my taste) but I like this quilt because the pattern saves it from being "in-your-face", if you know what I mean. Good job with a difficult fabric.
